Description: The Duke AHEC Program, a part of the NC AHEC Program, has developed an ongoing continuing medical series to address important psychiatric management issues encountered in community mental health settings. The current series is targeted toward psychiatrists and other providers working with seriously mentally ill adults and child in underserved regions of the State.
At the completion of this program, the participant should be able to: 1. Review screening and diagnosis of diabetes, hyperlipidemia and metabolic syndrome 2. Understand the prevelance and impact of these disorders among patients with mental illness 3. Identify the initial management of diabetes, hyperlipidemina and metabolic syndrome
